Private Tour of the Chelsea Physic Garden
Friday 10 May 2024
10.45am to 11.45am
66 Royal Hospital Road, Chelsea, London. SW3 4HS
Since 1673, Chelsea Physic Garden has occupied acres of land on the edge of the Thames. First established by the Apothecaries in order to grow medicinal plants, this extraordinary garden has had a wide-reaching impact around the world. The mission of the Chelsea Physic Garden is to assemble, curate and maintain a documented collection of temperate plants for the purposes of research, conservation, education, community outreach and public display. Chelsea Physic Garden has been awarded a gold in Green Tourism which is recognised by UK national and regional government as a crucial part of its drive towards sustainability.
This 45-minute tour will take in the several Victorian glasshouses that have been recently restored, highlight plants of interest and give the history of the garden. When the tour has ended you are welcome to stay to enjoy the gardens at your leisure for as long as you like. There is lovely cafe on site that serves cakes and snacks as well as lunch.
The Garden can be best reached by heading to Victoria Station on the District and Circle line and then a 15-minute walk.
