Jake Brewer (WW 11-16) Senior Geo-Political Consultant, Gatehouse Advisory Partners
Jake is a Senior Geopolitical Analyst and joined Gatehouse in 2022, having graduated with first-class honours in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford. Prior to joining Gatehouse, Jake worked as a Strategy Consultant, where he advised financial services and energy clients on market entry and corporate strategy.
At Gatehouse, Jake has worked particularly closely on issues related to the energy transition and conflict scenario planning, and his geographic focus is on the Asia-Pacific Region.
Oliver Davies (CH 09-14) Assistant Vice President, Private Equity and Real Estate Investment, Citi
After leaving Tonbridge, Ollie studied for a Masters in Civil Engineering at the University of Bristol. On graduating, he decided to pursue a career in banking, working in Citi’s Private Bank where he has been four the past four years starting as an analyst and working through five rotations including banking, private equity and real estate, UK investment counselling, business risk and compliance and subscription credit finance and portfolio management. He decided to specialise in private equity and real estate and currently holds the position of Assistant Vice President within this department.
Ollie and Jake will talk to us about their experiences after Tonbridge, focussing on the application process for graduates and their current roles. They will also give advice on how best to get noticed when applying to the City.
Stephen Wilkes (Parent) Head of Workflow Solution Sales, Deutsche Bank
Graduating from Southampton in Law and Politics, Stephen has spent the last 11 years at Deutsche Bank, the last three as Head of Workflow Solutions Sales with responsibilities for distribution of Emerging Markets Access Products, and also Securities Services Products. From 2015-2018 he took a three year assignment in Deutsche Bank’s Singapore business, where he was responsible for FIC Prime Brokerage Sales in the Asia Pacific region.
Before this he was at JP Morgan for a total of six years working as Relationship Manager for JP Morgan’s Priority clients and then as Executive Director in Futures and Options and OTC clearing sales. Stephen’s entry point to financial services was as part of the Graduate Programme at Goldman Sachs.
Jen Tippin (Parent) Chief People & Transformation Officer, Natwest Group
Jen is the Chief People and Transformation Officer for Natwest Group and a member of the Group Executive Committee. In this role, Jen is responsible for the people strategy and transformation plan, as well as customer journeys, investment, property and supply chain services. Jen is passionate about inclusion and is the Executive Sponsor for ‘Rainbow’, the Group’s LGBTQ+ employee led network, and for Wellbeing groupwide.
Prior to joining NatWest Group, Jen spent 15 years at Lloyds Banking Group. Appointed to the Group Executive Committee in 2017, she was Group Director, People and Productivity responsible for HR, efficiency, sourcing, supply chain management and property. Prior to that, she was the Group Organisation Design and Cost Management Director, Group Customer Services Director and MD, Business Banking serving over a million small business customers. She has extensive experience running large scale business, customer and operational teams as well as leading significant transformational change. Before working in financial services, Jen worked in both the engineering and airline sectors.
Jen has significant Board and Committee chair experience. She has served on both private and public sector boards, including the NHS and charitable organisations. She sat on the Board of Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets. She is currently a non-executive director on the board of Morgan Sindall Plc, a fast growing FTSE250 construction, housing, infrastructure, and regeneration business. She is also a non-executive director of City University, University of London, where she chairs their Remuneration Committee and is a Board member of the Financial Services Skills Commission driving the future skills agenda for the Banking sector. She joined the Board of HMRC in January 2023.
Jen graduated from Oxford University and is mother to three children residing in Sevenoaks and London.
Stephen and Jen will take an overview of the sector and the departments within it. They will consider the role of London in the financial markets going forward, think about the areas they consider have real growth potential and give their views on how to get noticed as a young graduate.
