James Brindley Nicolson VC, DFO (WH 30-34)
Tuesday 25 February 2025
Lecture in the EM Forster Theatre at 8pm

James Brindley Nicolson VC, DFC, was a famous fighter pilot and Wing Commander in the RAF during the Second World War. He was educated at Yardley Court and then here at Tonbridge and was interested in flying at an early age.
James, at the young age of 23, was the only Battle of Britain pilot to be awarded the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy.
A picture of James' aircraft being shot down can be seen on the wall of 'The Nicolson Wing', near The Smythe Library, named after Jim's brave and distinguished Uncle. Please do join us to hear more of James' life through the eyes of his nephew.
This event is fully accessible.
