Ed Hill (WW 11-17) and Hadeel Ayoub are Founders of BrightSign. They have designed a weightless technical glove to help change the lives of those who cannot hear or speak. They have created a companion app to work with the glove, eliminating the need for a bulky screen wrist strap. Ed tells us about his exciting journey from Tonbridge boy to entrepreneur, joined by his old Housemaster and inspirational Design Tech teacher, Will Biddle.
Don't miss this exclusive talk!
Ed and Hadeel share the responsibilities of creating the product and running BrightSign. They both do a bit of everything but Hadeel does the majority of the hardware work, while Ed is in charge of software and the business side of things, importantly with any start-up there is a lot of crossover. They will tell us how they make it work.
Hadeel is a familiar face of "women in tech" space and will share her experiences with us. Hadeel started her formal education in Saudi Arabia with a degree in design, and pivoted to tech in later life, now has a masters in computing and is currently submitting her PhD.
The pair will talk about the process of taking an initial proof of concept into a commercial product; both the development side, the design/user testing side and the business aspect. They will explain how this process doesn't always require a lot of technical background. Ed & Hadeel will also talk about the current challenges in the industry, and how their product helps people globally.
