The OTSA has entered this year's Arrow Trophy which is to be held in Cowes on 2/3 October. Recent changes in Government rules regarding COVID restrictions now mean that the event can go ahead (last year's was cancelled). Details of the event can be found at arrowtrophy.org.uk.
We will be sailing a new Beneteau F41 from Sunsail, based in Portsmouth. The boat will be skippered by our winning skipper from the J-80 fleet racing (held at St Mary's) and we hope to do well in the F-41 fleet at Cowes!!
We will pick up the boat from Sunsail in Portsmouth Harbour late afternoon Friday 1 October for passage to Cowes that evening. Racing is all day on Saturday and morning/early afternoon on Sunday. We should return to Portsmouth around 16-00 on the Sunday afternoon. We will participate in the Arrow Trophy dinner on the Saturday evening.
It is possible to sleep on board at Cowes, but for those seeking more comfort we have arranged accommodation close to the Marina at Richard Hollis' B&B (Richard - Many Thanks) at £20pp/n. If you wish to use this, please bring your own towels.
The cost of the event is £ 300 per participant. This includes food and drink on board, race fees and yacht charter and ticket to the Arrow Dinner. The OTSA can offer a reduced cost for young OTs – if this applies to you, please let us know.
This should be a fun event and is a great opportunity to take part in fleet racing in a modern racing yacht.
If you are interested, please contact Alistair Impey, the OTSA Secretary, at otsailing.sec@gmail.com.
We look forward to seeing some of you in October.
