He also performed Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No.3 at the Barbican Concert Hall in March 2020, which luckily occurred only a few days before the lockdown began. It was thankfully recorded and is available to listen to on YouTube.
At Tonbridge School, I was very fortunate to study with Seta Tanyel who was a huge inspiration. As well as being motivating and positive in the way she taught, she greatly improved my practice discipline (which at the time I really needed!). Undoubtedly, I wouldn’t be where I am today without her teaching.
I have been incredibly lucky to have always known that I wanted to become a musician and after Tonbridge I continued studying at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London where I completed a BMus, MPerf and ArtDip.
Training in Conservatoire has been a unique and challenging experience; I have had some incredible opportunities to perform with different musicians in different settings such as the Barbican Hall in London, Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, around Europe and even in Sendai, Japan!
Now in 2020, I have a diverse portfolio career of work as a soloist and chamber musician (member of the Jumis ensemble), alongside piano teaching and chamber music coaching.
Sharing my love of music and the arts feels extremely rewarding, and I often remind myself how lucky I am to have this work as my job!
