Old Tonbridgians have reached the final of the Cricketer Cup for the first time since 2013. They had a convincing win last Sunday on the Head against Charterhouse Friars, bowling them out for 77 and winning by 7 wickets. Hugo Snape (7-3-15-1) and Toby Pettman (10-0-27-0) restricted the visitors early before Marcus O’Riordan (6.1-2-9-4), Tom Coldman (8-4-10-2) and Fabian Cowdrey (10-2-11-3) did the damage to the middle order with their spin bowling. Tonbridge reached the target for the loss of three wickets in 14.5 overs, Fabian Cowdrey with 43*. The final will be held on Sunday 11 August at Arundel Castle cricket ground, 11.30 start, and the opponents are Oundle Rovers. There is plenty of parking round the ground and light refreshments can be bought, but a picnic lunch is suggested. Arundel is one of the most beautiful grounds in England and a lovely day out is in prospect if you can come and support Old Tonbridgians as they try to win the trophy for a record sixteenth time. |
