Zak Crawley scored the fastest Test hundred by an England opener, reaching three figures off just 86 balls against Pakistan on Thursday 1 December to break a 32-year record held by Graham Gooch.

The 24-year old took the lead in a superb opening partnership with Ben Duckett. Crawley showed his intent right from the start, hitting three boundaries off Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah’s first over of the match, and bringing up his half-century from just 38 balls. Duckett got into his stride as well, making 107 as England closed on 506 for 4 on the first day of the Test.

Crawley could have become the first England batsman to score a century before lunch on day one of a Test, but was left just nine runs short at the interval. He brought up three figures promptly after the interval, completing the fastest Test century by an England opener.

Many congratulations Zak.
