Current Lower Sixth boys, Tommy Wilkinson and Connor Impey will be running the Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon in support of the charity CALM on Sunday 18 February. CALM supported a family friend who lost a parent to suicide and both Tommy and Connor wanted to raise money for, and awareness of, this charity that both supports those affected and runs prevention services such as counselling and helplines. Tommy says "we chose the Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon as it is one of the hilliest in the UK and reflects the struggle that many men face with mental health each day around the world and how it affects those around them* Connor Impey, Tommy Wilkinson, Jack Prideaux At the beginning of this term, Jack Prideaux (JH 12-17) returned to Tonbridge for a Saturday Chapel talk about his Power of 5 Campaign, raising money for the charity MIND. Jack has been running 5km a day since 10 September 2023 and will be finishing his campaign by running five marathons in five days in September 2024. After hearing Jack's talk, Tommy and Connor contacted him and arranged to meet in London, where they completed their last long training run of 15km before the actual race. Tommy and Connor enjoyed meeting Jack and chatting about school life, mental health and rugby. We wish Tommy and Connor all the best on Sunday 18 Feburary. If you are in Tunbridge Wells that day, please support them across the finish line, and if you want to know any more about their campaign please get in touch with Tara Biddle . |
