A group of Parents’ Arts members enjoyed a private tour of the gardens at Pashley Manor in Ticehurst on 11th September. The tour was led by Kate Wilson, part of the team of gardeners who maintain the fantastic display throughout the year, including the Dahlia Festival, the Tulip Festival and the Rose Week. The Dahlia’s were in full bloom on our visit with over 40 varieties to be seen. Kate explained the science behind how Dahlia’s bloom in the colours they do, how they can change their colours as they bloom and the history behind how they arrived in Europe from their native Mexico back in 1787. Alongside these beautiful displays, we were lucky to see the second flush from the Roses, the later flowering perennials, the huge herbaceous borders as well as the beautiful Grade 1 listed Manor House. Details of how and when to visit Pashley Manor Gardens can be found here https://www.pashleymanorgardens.com/ View our photos of the event below: |
