Jack Raynor (WW5) updates us on progress at 3DCrowd.uk

The last few weeks for 3D Crowd have been very busy. Jack Raynor (WW5) is one of the founding members of 3D Crowd – a group of volunteers with 3D printers in their homes who are getting together across the country to produce 3D printed face shields in large volumes for the NHS.

The company have delivered over 100,000 masks over the last week to the NHS and other institutions. They have received over £130,000 in donations on GoFundMe to help finance the creation and distribution of 3D printed facemasks. New plans to help efficiently distribute more masks have been implemented, changing from a centralised distribution to localised distribution. Jack Raynor is running one of the two local distribution centres in Kent and is thrilled with the level of take-up. His centre have delivered over 5000 masks since it opened.

What Now?
We’re asking volunteers to please keep printing! A home will be found for your work as demand is still several times more than we’ve already produced as a community.

Now that we have shipped a big chunk of the current goal to hotspots where PPE was most needed, we’ll be switching to enabling local hubs across the country. Our next aim is to supply visors and elastic in bulk, which will be combined with locally made headpieces. These will be sent to local care homes and GPs that the main supply chain is taking a longer time to reach.
