Will Biddle has recently returned from a week in Portimão, Portugal where he was taking part in the World Great Grand Masters Beach Ultimate (Frisbee) Club Championships 2022. He was part of team Flash, the only GB representative club in the tournament, and although the oldest member of the team he was undoubtedly one of the fittest. Great Grand Masters is the division for players aged 48 and over. The team, who had only practiced together once before the tournament, played eight games against a variety of other clubs including Tragic Hips (Canada), Mountain Beachers (Switzerland), Rainbow Warriers (Sweden), Les Jets (France) and Emerica (USA). Despite variable weather, which included thunderstorms, high winds, heavy rain and warm sunshine, the team played well and had a very enjoyable tournament.
Rouven Schreck (in cap and dark glasses) captained the team and approached Will after having played alongside him in the Great Grand Masters GB Team during the 2017 World Championships, again in Portugal. Will, Rouven and others have co-founded Flow, an Ultimate Frisbee Club that meet weekly in Tonbridge on Sunday mornings. The club is open to players of all ages, genders and ability and if you would like to join please contact Will at will.biddle@tonbridge-school.org. (PH 76-81, CR 04 - present) |
