As we approach the halfway point of the Arthurian League, the Old Tonbridgian Football Club continues to compete strongly in the Premier Division (1st XI), Division 3 (2nd XI) and the Vets league. With many younger OTs playing every Saturday for the 1st & 2nd XI, it is great to see the Club’s Veteran team still manages to get good numbers on the Sundays they play.
Although results have been indifferent so far this season, there have been some special moments such as 18-year-old Rory Wade’s last-minute goal to give the 1st XI a memorable 6-5 victory over Old Carthusians. Rory is one of many younger talents in the Club which is testament to the work going on at the School by football master Adam Sixsmith as well as John Bleakley before him.
The Club still has a strong social side off the field with 10 Club members enjoying a fantastic evening at Lord’s for the latest OT annual dinner. Also, after last year’s success, Social Secretary, Seb Herran, has re-organised a Club Christmas social for some whole Club festivities.
All teams in the Club continue to enjoy the superb Whitby’s pitch at the school and hopefully we can do it more justice in the second half of the season!
