The Shooting World Championships are underway in South Africa with Theo Dodds (WW 08-13) participating as a member of the elite twenty-five person 'Palma' squad. All matches take place at Bloemfontein, 250 miles south-west of Johannesburg, from 8-23 March 2024. Shooting conditions have been challenging, with high temperatures and strong, gusting winds.
The main event of the meet is the competition for the Palma Trophy which is held at the end of the meet, with Great Britain keen to reclaim the title from Australia. Also competing are South Africa (who have home team advantage), along with the USA, New Zealand and Germany.
In the world of competitive shooting, the Palma Trophy is considered to be the ultimate test of the national teams, and Theo has produced excellent results so far, winning individual gold in the opening shoot (the Republic of South Africa International Match) with a score of 150 and 19 'V' bulls out of a maximum possible score of 150 and 30 'V' bulls.
We wish Theo the best of luck for the remainder of the competition.
