George came fourth in the Single Scull race in a highly competetive pool, which saw Great Britain dominate the top of the results tables, winning five gold and four silver medals over the two day event in Italy. Thanks in part to this excellent result, he has been selected as one of 60 Team GB athletes who will be competing at the European Rowing Championships, which are set to take place in Szeged, Hungary from 25 to 28 April. George competes for Leander Club, one of the oldest rowing clubs worldwide, and widely regarded as the 'most historic, prestigious and successful rowing club in the world', having produced notable athletes such as Sir Steve Redgrave CBE and Sir Matthew Pinsent CBE, and winning 138 Olympic and Paralymic medals in its history. George has gone from success to success since his maiden season in 2022, and will look to build on this strong start to his senior rowing career. Looking forward, George is setting his sights on Olympic qualifying in the Single Scull category - arguably the hardest and most competitive, and his qualifying regatta takes place in five weeks. Many congratulations to George on this fantastic achievement, and we wish him all the best in his Olympic aspirations ahead of qualifying in the coming weeks. |
