All the funds raised by the Tonbridge Society Office are directed to our charity The Tonbridge School Foundation, which is governed by the Board of Trustees.
The Tonbridge School Foundation was set up in 2003 with a clear objective of widening access to Tonbridge School, by offering Foundation Award bursaries to talented boys without the means to afford a Tonbridge education. The Foundation also exists to strengthen the School's position as one of the leading boys’ boarding and day schools in the UK and internationally, and to create and support major capital projects to enhance our facilities and teaching.
As of September 2024, together, the Tonbridge School Foundation and the School provide 72 students with a full or partial Foundation Award bursary so that they can have the opportunity of a Tonbridge education. Our ambition is to increase this number to 100 recipients at the School by 2028.

Gavin is also Chair of Governors, with effect from the 2022-23 academic year and has been a member of the School’s governing body since April 2014.
Gavin brings to his roles a passion for education and for social mobility: the latter is, his words, “the prime enabler to reduce poverty, reduce wealth disparity and improve livelihoods”. A Chartered Accountant, qualifying in his native South Africa, Gavin has lived in the UK since 2002, and can count finance and investment management among his areas of expertise.His present role is that of Chief Executive of Polar Capital Holdings Plc, a London listed asset management firm. He is a long-term supporter of Whizz-Kidz, a charity providing mobility for physically disabled children, and has run multiple London Marathons to support this cause. Gavin’s three sons were all educated at Tonbridge.

Yvette leads the Tonbridge Society engagement strategy and implements the fundraising appeals for the Foundation, with a particular focus on our Giving Day and regular giving programmes. Yvette joined the team in 2015 bringing with her a wealth of experience in donor stewardship, marketing and fundraising in education.
